Runaways movie

We all know Marvel Studios has big plans for putting the Avengers on the big screen. Announced today is Marvel’s plans to produce a live-action version of Runaways, one of the House of Ideas most recent creations and a huge critical and fan darling.

Even better is the news that series creator Brian K. Vaughan is penning the script. Vaughan is celebrated in the comics world for titles like Y the Last Man, and he’s also on the writing staff of ABC Television’s Lost.

Runaways tells the story of a group of teenagers who discover their parents are supervillains, so they run away and form a crime-fighting team of their own, to combat their parents’ evil ways.

If Marvel can find the right director and cast, and if Vaughan turns in a killer script… this could be supremely awesome.
