Tom Cruise Considers Reprising Top Gun Role

Tom Cruise is reportedly in talks to reprise his role as Lt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in a sequel to Top Gun. Although no official details have been released, an “insider” told The Sun that the plot will revolve around Lt. Maverick, now an instructor at the Top Gun school, having to deal with a “cocky new female pilot”. Sounds a bit like The Next Karate Kid to me which doesn’t bode well for the project.
Most sites running this story seem to be in doubt that the public would be interested in another Top Gun film this late in the game. While it has been 22 years since the original, I believe there’s enough interest in the character and Tom Cruise to bring people out.
