Steve Carell, Seth Rogan to Become Ghostbusters?

A rumor making its way across the interwebs mentions that a new Ghostbusters film is in the works. Supposedly the plot involves the original team handing over their proton packs to Steve Carell, Seth Rogan, and an unnamed third party. This, according to DreadCentral.com, came from a fairly reliable source.

Does anyone think this could actually work? It seems that most franchises that get revisited end up failing miserably. I would love to see more Ghostbustin’ adventures but would prefer the original team.

Well, the original team would be quite enjoyable. They are all still in their comedic prime (with the exception of Dan Akroyd who hasnt really done anything good since 1997s Grosse Point Blank.) and it would be fun to see a “Where Are They Now” type sequel to the movies. But with the release of a new Ghostbusters Video Game (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1142978/) with all of the original voices, i assume they are thinking of releasing a new movie to coincide with it. Or vice versa, depending on who had the idea first.

i for one would welcome a re-make of this movie. i mean, I loved the animated series and all of the flaws that came with writing a cartoon for kids based on a movie for adults. Just as long as they spoofed the movie and didnt try to recapture the magic of what was the Ghostbusters.

As the last thing I post suggested this was merely a rumor. At first, I was put off by the idea of a film focusing on another team of Ghostbusters. I am also not a big fan of Seth Rogen. But, the more I think about it, the more I think this could actually be good. I love everything Steve Carrel does.
