The real scene-stealer of Comic-Con for many of us was the Heroes panel, which knocked the excitement meter out of the park by showing fans the season premier episode for the upcoming Season 3, an episode entitled “The Second Coming.” That title was remarkably on-the-nose for the reception the cast and crew got at Comic-Con after showing the episode, as everything about the ep felt like it had become the show we’ve all been waiting for it to become since the very beginning. It was so unexpected; it seemed as if Heroes came out of left field to generate some of the strongest buzz at the entire Con. Creator Tim Kring made a big deal about showing the episode to the crowd because it had been so long since the show was on the air, but we all knew the truth: he was there to wow us again as a pseudo-apology for the ho-hum second season.

And wow us he did. You’ll find no footage from that premier episode in this video (which would be illegal, you naughty reader, you), but you will find about 20 minutes of Kring, writer and panel moderator Jeph Loeb, and the show’s entire cast talking up the show to fans and answering as many fan questions as they could in what remained of the panel’s allotted time — all with fans reacting to a re-energized love for the show thanks to that stellar season premier screening. The best moment comes when a very young fan approaches the microphone and offers a shout-out to actor Zachary Quinto (Sylar).
