Acting legend Paul Newman has died at the age of 83. Best known for his roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Cool Hand Luke, The Hustler, and The Sting, Paul Newman passed away on Friday after a long bout with cancer.
Known for his tendency to play handsome, rogue-ish characters (which one would imagine came quite easily), Newman quickly grew to become one of Hollywood’s most beloved and, when it came to the studios, most bankable stars. Often listed as one of the sexiest men in Hollywood even at a time when he was more than a half century older than the other stars on those lists, Newman became a role model for many young actors. Heart-throb George Clooney, who has often been compared to Newman, has been quoted, “He set the bar too high for the rest of us. Not just actors, but all of us.”
