The 2nd trailer for Will Eisner’s the Spirit film is now available exclusively through Moviefone.com and it’s a doozy. Equal parts action and comedy with a little bit of romance thrown in for good measure (not much, since most of the ladies want to kill our hero). The Spirit is the latest effort from the man who brought us 300 and Sin City, Frank Miller. However, this is Miller’s directing debut. No Zack Snyder or Robert Rodriguez to keep him company this time around…

This movie originally wasn’t a priority viewing for me, but since the San Diego Comic-Con and this 2nd and final trailer, I’m wanting to see this movie NOW! With a stylish noir setting, a studly hero, a creepy Samuel L Jackson, and lots of lovely ladies including Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, and Sarah Paulson garbed in an array of fetishized costumes, what’s not to love? I’ve seen a good chunk of the big battle scene between the Spirit and the Octopus (again, at Comic-Con) and it’s equal parts gut wrenching and gut busting. This movie doesn’t take itself too seriously. Will Eisner is the grandfather, the godfather, the master of the modern comic form and I’m looking forward to seeing this truly unique vision come to life. To me, it just looks… fun. And I’m never, ever wrong.
