Yeah, I know it’s old news by now, but I had to say something. According to the Hollywood Reporter tells us that Don Cheadle is set to replace Terence Howard as Tony Stark’s right hand man, Jim Rhodes, in the sequel to the blockbuster Iron Man. Fans of the Golden Avenger know what’s in store for Rhodey, as he will likely have an expanded role in the next film when he dons the War Machine armor his character is known for.

The reason for the change is unclear, but it’s rumored that Howard wanted too much money to reprise the role, leading Marvel to opt for an equally talented and honored actor for the role.

It makes me kind of sad that Howard won’t be returning (nothing against the extremely talented Cheadle), mainly because I prefer continuity and usually find it a bit disconcerting whenever a new actor has to fill an established role. Sure, Rhodey didn’t get a lot of screen time in Iron Man, but Howard seemed built to play him, as everyone else seemed to be in the film.

Everyone else from the original film, including Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, is currently scheduled to return to their roles and John Favreau will be directing once again.
