USA Today Has the First Look at Star Trek Movie Toys

USA Today has the first pictures of the Playmates toys 3 3/4 inch Star Trek movie action figures coming this spring/summer. Figures come with portions of the Enterprise bridge that can be combined to make a complete playset. Kirk, of course, comes with the centerpiece… the captain’s chair. There’s also a transporter room that comes with Scotty and lots of life-sized hand held props like phasers and communicators. Check out the exclusive pictures here.

I haven’t owned a Star Trek toy since the 70s. I had the old Megos with the playset and everything. I think I still have my Bones figure. I’m tempted to pick these up, but I’m not a fan of the square-shouldered sculpts of the figures pictured. I hope these are just prototypes and not the final products. Of course, it took Hasbro a few tries before they moved beyond the oddly proportioned “buff” Star Wars figures that were released almost 14 years ago. I love the look of this Trek film. I’m hoping the toys live up to it. I may have to get that communicator regardless..
