According to Variety, Marvel Entertainment and Samuel L Jackson have come to an agreement that will put Jackson in nearly all of the studio’s upcoming films as Nick Fury, the role he was born to play. Well, more accurately, the modern version of the Marvel character’s look was based on him and fans know that no one else could take on that role to anyone’s satisfaction, especially after every Marvel geek’s dream came true upon seeing him in the post-credits scene at the end of last year’s hit Iron Man film. There had been a falling out last year when Marvel and Jackson couldn’t come to a financial agreement that would put him in the Iron Man sequel or any of the other upcoming Marvel films projects, but that seems to have changed. Jackson will appear in Iron Man 2, shooting this spring for a summer 2010 release, and will likely be included in each of the other films that are forming the foundation for an ever expanding celluloid Marvel Universe. Those films include Thor, Captain America, S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, and possibly many more as yet unannounced projects.
Now if only they could get back Terence Howard as Rhodey (no offense Don Cheadle), they’ll be able to retain an air tight level of continuity for two whole movies in a row. But no matter what they do now, if Jackson is on board as the uniting force between all of the Marvel Entertainment films leading to the surely massive, highly anticipated Avengers movie, it’s gonna rock (okay, well, they could screw it up if they can’t hold onto Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, but let’s not put that idea into their heads…).
