Popculturegeek is going to Wondercon 2009, the little sister to the biggest pop culture event in the world, the San Diego Comic-Con! We’re excited to bring you our coverage of this massively geeky event for the very first time. San Francisco is supposed to be rainy the entire weekend, but that won’t prevent us from bringing you all the pictures and video we can, along with the biggest news items announced throughout the event, taking place from Friday, February 27th to Sunday, March 1st at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco.
The event will host panels featuring news and exclusive premieres from the world of comics, movies, television, and video games. From the west coast premiere of the new Bruce Timm animated Wonder Woman movie to a panel with the stars of Chuck to a screening of the first 45 minutes of Pixar‘s Up, we’re hoping to cover it all (or as much as one person can… what is this “we” crap anyway?). On top of all that good stuff, I expect to spend the entire day Saturday in their main panel room (the Esplanade) just for the chance to catch an exclusive glimpse at the new Star Trek film. And *just announced*… Warner Bros will be hosting an advance screening of the Watchmen movie in IMAX for a lucky 500 or so fans on Friday night. I’m dying to be one of the lucky few to catch that screening. Me and 30,000+ other people… Wish me luck.
Tickets are still available in advance and at the door. I don’t know about hotels. You can find out more by going to the official site at http://www.comic-con.org/wc/.
Keep checking popculturegeek.com throughout the weekend and the days that follow to catch all of our new pictures on Flickr, videos on YouTube, and major announcements as they happen on our Twitter feed. Look for the first pictures and video on Friday night… if I’m not at the Watchmen screening, of course.
