WonderCon 2009 Video Highlights from Sit Down Shut Up Panel

wc09sitdownshutup If you’re an attracitve, intelligent person with good taste in television (like me), you’re a fan of the late, great Arrested Development tv series, formerly on Fox. You’ll be happy to hear that AD creator Mitch Hurwitz has joined forces with former Simpsons writer/producer Josh Weinstein to bring us the new Fox animated series, Sit Down Shut Up. What makes this even better for Arrested Development fans is that many of the actors from the series are providing voices for this new show, which is about school teachers and the students they hate to teach. Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Henry Winkler are at least three of the confirmed former AD stars that provide voices. At WonderCon 2009 a few weeks ago, Arnett, Winkler, Hurwitz, and Weinstein joined Kenan Thompson (from Saturday Night Live) and Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) in a panel promoting the show. We got a quick glimpse of the unique approach to this new animated series (photo realistic backgrounds) and more than a few laughs as the cast members described their characters and referred to a few of their old characters (I’ve seen and heard the Fonz in person!). Sit Down Shut Up premieres on Fox Sunday nights in April.
