Hell has officially frozen over! Fox actually HASN’T cancelled a Joss Whedon production after its first season! That’s right, Dollhouse is getting another 13 episode run. It’s not a confidence boosting 22 episode full-season run, but it’s a start. Now if it can only get out of the Friday death slot, it might have a chance to extend its life beyond this last minute stay of execution. And although the official reports don’t appear until later today, things don’t look so well for Dollhouse’s Friday night death row cellmate, Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It had a wonderfully mindbending ending, worthy of a big follow up season, but that’s unlikely to happen (But who knows? Miracles can happen… as we’ve seen with Dollhouse…). Of course, the decree that comes along with Dollhouse’s renewal is a considerable budget cut. The same goes for NBC’s fan-favorite-but-ratings-challenged Chuck. Fox has picked up 13 new episodes from Warner Bros in exchange for an agreement to lower the overall series budget. Even Scrubs is managing to come back for a 9th (!!!) season, now on ABC, but with a reduction of screen time for its primary players, Zach Braff and Sarah Chalke, who are contracted to return for 6 episodes in the as yet undetermined season run.
