The Visitors Are Our Friends – ABC’s V Trailer and Footage!

vabc Growing up, “V” was one of my all time favorite shows. When it came to sci-fi tv, I was all over stuff like “V“, Battlestar Galactica, the Greatest American Hero, and, of course, the classic original series Star Trek reruns. Friendly aliens visit Earth in cool giant spaceships, promising great things and monumental change for the world. But not really. They turn out to be… well, if you have never heard of “V” (really? you consider yourself a geek?), I won’t ruin it. But the trailer below for the new ABC series just might spoil it a little. I like the fact that this version of “V” digs a little further into religious themes and the ideas behind blind devotion without discernment. This could end up being pretty fun and thinky. But the fact that it stars the stunning Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) and Morena Baccarin (Firefly/Serenity) is enough to keep my interest even if it didn’t appear to be smart (and did I happen to catch a glimpse of Alan Tudyk in there? AlphaWash gets around… hmmm…). Here’s hoping that ABC has found a new sci-fi series with staying power now that we’re less than a year away from the end of Lost. Notice how even the title at the end of the trailer looks kind of Lost-y? And could another wild-animal-named Party of Five vet (Scott Wolf) take over the male lead in the smart ABC sci-fi epic spot once Matthew Fox steps down at the end of Lost? And, ummm, Juliet, anyone? No surprise which audience they want to pull.

I have a strong feeling that ABC will be handing out those “I ♥ V” t-shirts at Comic-Con this year… (they should fire their marketing promotions person if they don’t).
