The 2nd season of Star Wars: the Clone Wars animated series on Cartoon Network premieres tonight at 8pm. This 1 hour episode features the new bounty hunter character Cad Bane causing more trouble for our favorite Jedi. Of course, Darth Sidious is behind it all as usual.
While the original movie wasn’t as good as it could have been, feeling much like 3 episodes haphazardly cut together rather than an actual complete film, the first season of the animated series outshone the movie in every possible way with every passing week. Maybe it’s the 22 minute episodic treatment that made the storytelling easier to digest. Or maybe it’s me. I seem to have found a love serialized tv that now far outweighs my love of movies (but recent 3D theatrical releases are helping to balance those scales). I don’t know, but I do know that Clone Wars season 1 was full of great stories and amazing action throughout. If season 2 is half as good as season 1, we’re in for a fun ride exploring new and classic characters as well as corners of the Star Wars universe we’ve never seen before. And, hey, it’s now got more bounty hunters than you could shake a gundark at!
