Wii & Penguin United – Shoot Straighter and Charge Faster!

puguncharger Penguin United has just made Wii gaming easier. With their new Electroflow Inductive Charger, you don’t have to remove the silicon jacket to charge your Wii remote anymore. Just lay it on either of the 2 cradles and the Wii controller charges automatically using the provided NiCad batteries. A blue LED light indicates the charging status of the controller, letting you know when the charging is complete. I only have 2 controllers at home, so this is perfect for keeping my them revved and ready to play on the fly. All too often I’ve gone to play Wii with regular batteries in the Wiimote only to find them dead, even if I haven’t played in awhile. This is a nice change.

Penguin United also makes Wii shooting games more fun. Not satisfied with making yet another gun-shaped cradle for the Wiimote (like the Wii Zapper), PU has created a full-on gun shaped controller. The Crossfire Remote Pistol has the B button in the obvious trigger position (duh) and a logically (beautifully) placed A button and D pad within easy reach of your thumb. I did have to tweak the sensitivity down to its lowest level in order to use it (it’s a very responsive remote) with my system, but once I did that and plugged in the nunchuck, I was ready to start blasting away.

The only unfortunate thing is that the Crossfire Pistol doesn’t work with the Electroflow Charger, but that’s understandable considering how they’re built. Recommended for the Wii gamer who wants responsive shooting power and ready-to-go charged up Wiimotes without having to constantly undress and re-dress them every time.

Both the Electroflow Inductive Charger (retail $29.99) and the Crossfire Remote Pistol (retail $39.99) are available at better gaming retailers and online at Penguin United.
