Still looking for gifts for the geek in your life? Well, if they’re a fan of Marvel comics and animated films, you can’t go wrong with the 6 film DVD box set from Lionsgate. And while they’re a bit more safe than I would like (meant for kids and Marvel fans who have to have EVERYTHING Marvel), they’re all great fun in the heroic Marvel tradition. Just don’t expect it to strictly adhere to current comics or live action film continuities. The set includes:
Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2 – very loosely adapted from the Mark Millar penned Ultimates comic series (and much more kid-friendly), this modernized team of Avengers join forces to battle an out of control Hulk and a massive alien invasion.
Doctor Strange – discover the origin of the Marvel Universe’s Sorcerer Supreme as he battles mystical evils bent on taking over our dimension.
The Invincible Iron Man – Tony Stark armors up to become Iron Man in hopes of standing up against one of his most powerful foes, the Mandarin.
Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow – the next generation of heroes must join forces with the Hulk to battle Ultron, the menace that defeated their parents years before.
Hulk Vs – the Hulk faces off against two of his biggest foes, Wolverine and Thor, in two separate films on one disc.
You save almost half price by buying the movies in this set versus buying them individually, so it’s a great deal during this economically tight holiday season. It’s available at nearly all major retailers at a suggested retail price of $49.99, but there’s a good chance you might find it cheaper. No matter what you pay, this is a great must-have movie collection for any Marvel fan!
