It’s here. The summer of Marvel superhero movies starts with Thor on May 6th, 2011, followed by X-Men: First Class (from Fox) on June 3rd, and Captain America: the First Avenger on July 22nd. If you don’t want to click PLAY below, you will likely see this attached to Tron: Legacy in theaters next week (December 17th), since Disney owns both Tron and Marvel. No brainer. But does that also mean we should be expecting a Captain America trailer very soon? It would be sweet to see trailers for both trailers in one sitting before Tron.
When it debuts online, I imagine you’d want to watch for it here:
And while you’re at it, check out the great intro on the Thor official site as well…
Thor tells the story of the god of thunder (Chris Hemsworth), who is de-powered and cast down from his “heavenly” realm by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) because of his arrogance. When he arrives on Earth, he meets the lovely Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and discovers that without his god-like strength and abilities, someone from his homeworld is trying to finish him off while he is at his weakest. This film introduces Thor into the shared universe of Marvel film characters, leading to the eagerly anticipated Avengers film, coming in 2012 and directed by Joss Whedon. Thor is directed by Kenneth Branagh and will be in theaters May 6th, 2011.
