If you’re on Facebook, odds are good that you have fallen prey to one of the many uber-addictive games that have become incredibly popular in the last few years. One of the biggest is, of course, Mafia Wars. Even if you haven’t played it, you know someone who has. Well, Zynga, the world’s largest social gaming studio that created Mafia Wars has partnered with rap superstar performer/producer/mogul Dr. Dre to give you a real world piece of the action with exclusive content and prizes for hardcore fans and gamers.
In anticipation of Detox, Dr. Dre’s first rap album in over a decade (which will be released in February), he has created a “Hustlin’ wit Dre” section within the Mafia Wars game, where players can earn special Dre-themed mastery items for a chance to win real-life prizes like an autographed copy of the highly-anticipated new album or Beats by Dr. Dre headphones. Players can also view Dre’s newest music video, “Kush” (featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon) and a special video shoutout from Dr. Dre, exclusively for Mafia Wars.
The Dr. Dre in-game music integration follows a recent Mafia Wars campaign, where Zynga partnered with Snoop Dogg to blow up a 4-ton armored truck in the Nevada desert to commemorate the game reaching 10 million visitors in two weeks. By leveraging Zynga’s more than 200 million monthly active users worldwide, this partnership provides a unique platform for listeners. Mafia Wars, which revolves around advancing one’s criminal empire by creating clans, is the world’s most popular crime game with 19 milllion people playing the game each month on Facebook and the iPhone.
