Bigger Better Newer Theatrical THOR Trailer on Yahoo!

I bet Marvel’s sort of kicking themselves for already using up AC/DC‘s Thunderstruck in the Iron Man 2 promos, regardless of how on-the-nose such a song might be. But I’m sure a fan is already mashing one up using this new footage as I write this…

Thor is looking better and better with each new trailer. Lots of bombastic action and more than a few knowing “this hot weird dude thinks he’s a god” nods to help the audience mentally reconcile this otherworldly hero into our universe (or at least Marvel‘s universe). And though my heart is reserved for Natalie Portman, I love that Kat Denning gets to be the dorky/hot comic relief in what could have been a stiff and overly serious production. And Chris Hemsworth aptly pulls off the haughty voice of snotty royalty without spouting any awkward thees and thous. Best of all, from a frame-by-frame examination, it looks like at least some of the climactic battle will take place right on the Rainbow Bridge, an iconic location in the Marvel universe (file under “stuff only a geek would care about”). I’m really excited to see this, although I’m reserving judgment on whether the 3D upgrade was necessary or successful. Either way, I’m at the theaters May 6th.
