Wizard World Anaheim 2011 Bigger and Better Than Ever

Wizard World Anaheim Comic-Con 2011 This past weekend, Wizard World Anaheim Comic-Con opened its doors for its second annual event at the Anaheim Convention Center, just down the street from the world famous Disneyland. Bigger and better than before, Wizard World gave fans from all over California and beyond the chance to meet their favorite stars, dress up in elaborate costumes, and fill the gaps in their comic and toy collections at the many booths spread throughout the room. Next to the opportunity to meet and get photos and autographs of the cast members from Star Trek (John de Lancie), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Nicholas Brendon), Battlestar Galactica (Tricia Helfer), and Smallville (John Schneider, also of the Dukes of Hazzard), fans could meet dozens of their favorite comic creators in Artist Alley, including Mark Texeira, Tom Hodges, Arthur Suydam, Bill Sienkiewicz, Greg Horn, Mike McKone, and tons more! Anaheim Comic-Con also gave people the opportunity to be introduced to newer self-published creators, such as Luis Calderon, who draws Space Johny and Deadtective, the latter of which was written by pal Randall Fitzgerald.

In all honesty, if you were looking for a convention experience with a strong pop culture nostalgia bent (scores of classic cars and actors of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, but without the need to climb over 100,000 other fans to get to them), Wizard World’s Anaheim Comic-Con was a perfect fit. And if you were the type of fan with a devotion to anything from Harry Potter to Ghostbusters to video games to, of course, Star Wars, it wasn’t hard to find folks with a similar mindset and a fan club (and costumes) to promote it. Whether you were there to grab some free goodies (Soyjoy bars in a handful of flavors), get your picture taken in the Back to the Future Delorean, or take part in the costume contest that closed out Saturday night, Anaheim had something for everyone.

Here are just a few images that PopCultureGeek.com captured at the event…
