Green With Envy – There’s Muppets in this Trailer!

When I got to briefly talk to Jason Segel at the Paley Festival a few months ago about the Muppets movie he was doing, he was clearly enthusiastic about bringing the iconic characters back to the big screen. Of course, I didn’t need to be IN the movie to be excited at the thought of seeing Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, and the dozens (if not hundreds) of classic characters. I grew up on the Muppets. Jim Henson is one of my biggest inspirations… so much so that I’ve created my own puppets by hand just for the hell of it. And, honestly, if I had a chance to meet George Lucas or Kermit the Frog, I’d probably have to choose felt over flannel. You have to understand just how much I love Star Wars for me to make a statement like that. I LOVE the Muppets!

That said, I’ve been wondering why we haven’t seen any kind of promotion beyond a few stills floating around the interwebs in recent months. Well, that changes today. Here’s your first glimpse at The Muppets, starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams, and a host of your favorite Muppets singing, dancing, and just being the Muppets! There’s just not enough vaudevillian puppet movies out there starring a guy best known for his full frontal nudity. Okay, yes, he’s done lots more since then, including an Emmy-worthy dramatic turn on How I Met Your Mother, but still… Either way, I’m ready for another Muppet movie! And from what I’ve seen, Jason is the man with a love for the Muppets that quite possibly rivals mine, so I know it’s in good hands. Look for them in a theater near you this year!
