Check Out the Killer New HAYWIRE Trailer

When I sat in this panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year, I didn’t know anything about it. Didn’t really care. I figured it was just another punch-kick-explode movie with a butch but attractive female in the lead. Then I saw that Ewan McGregor and Michael Fassbender were also in it. The attractive woman should have been enough, but in this case, two actors I really liked were in it. Then they showed us a fight sequence between female MMA powerhouse Gina Carano and Fassbender that literally shook the room, both in the clip and in the convention hall. The physicality of it was unlike anything I expected (you get a glimpse of it in the trailer). There aren’t any of the usual foleyized punch “cracks” and kung-fu kick “thwacks”. What you hear is just the sound of skin on skin (and usually blunt object on skin) with no music bed to hide it. Check the trailer below for what could be the surprise film of the winter season. And, yes, it’s directed by THAT Steven Soderbergh.
