Pop Culture Geek Podcast #5.5 – Holiday Special Edition 2011

Happy holidays, geeks! We’re here to give you a gift that only PopCultureGeek could produce – a bonus podcast – the Holiday Special edition! Consider this the holiday special to end all holiday specials about holiday specials. Scott and I go over the vast array of our favorite holiday themed holiday tv and movie milestones, from Charlie Brown to Bad Santa to a new(ish) movie called Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (see the trailer below).

To correct a statement I made in the podcast, the movie Rare Exports is actually Finnish and was released overseas in 2010. And since the recording of this podcast, I saw it and loved it. It’s got an absurd ending that I won’t spoil here, but brings the “true” historic nature of Santa Claus to life in the cold mountains of Finland bordering Russia. It’s not traditional by any means, but a little boy does discover that Santa Claus is very, very real… before he’s forced to face off with him to save his friends and family. Insane fun for most of the 17 and up family.
